Story
Hello! We're glad you're here. We are proud to present FAUNABELLE: a tarot deck featuring an illustrated cast of animals subtly loaded with symbolism. The accompanying guidebook offers warm-hearted meanings for each card appropriate for kids ages 3-12. But this deck is not for children only. Oh no! It's for anyone who needs a little more kindness, compassion and beauty in their life.
Tarot cards go all the way back to the 15th Century when they were enjoyed as playing cards. Today, we can use the tarot as a tool of self-reflection and understanding. It allows us to look at a question or a circumstance through one of 78 lenses, the number of cards in a tarot deck. You can ask a question for yourself or for another person.
Questions a young reader might ask FAUNABELLE include:
- How can I get along better with my sister/brother?
- What reminder should I take with me today?
- How can I tell my friend something that's hard to share?
A tarot practice develops creativity, empathy and greater understanding of self and others.

The deck itself features 78 full-color, fully illustrated cards printed on sturdy, yet flexible heavyweight card stock with a matte finish. The sturdiness of the stock will make sure the cards stand up against excited little hands and vigorous use! The deck is oversized with the cards measuring 3.25" x 4.15". We are working with an experienced and exceptional printer who specializes in premium decks.
- The Major Arcana is represented by 22 animal ambassadors.
- The Minor Arcana follows the stories of the Dog (Wands), Goldfish (Cups), Cockatiel (Swords) and Tortoise (Pentacles) in their quest for joy, love, mindfulness, and values.
A stunning guidebook includes interpretations for both upright and reversed positions. We've compassionately distilled the cards into meanings that children, beginners, and long time practitioners will easily understand.

Here's an easy to follow guide to our FAUNABELLE backer rewards:
- $24,000: Upgrade to a premium art paperstock: from 340gsm to 400gsm.
- $28,000: Add gold foil edges to the deck as shown in our rewards guide!
- $32,000: Include a section on spreads in the guidebook.
- $36,000: Include a buttery, soft touch finish to the card.
- $40,000: Add embossed details on the tarot box.
AND MAYBE MORE! If you lovely people help us to achieve these goals, we'll add more! We have tonnes of cool ideas up our sleeves and hopefully we'll get the opportunity to share them with you!
Please note that you will be charged for shipping in addition to the reward level you purchase. Since shipping rates tend to fluctuate during the holiday season, we will be adding this cost after the campaign. In addition, since the cards and rewards have not been printed and manufactured yet, we are unable to calculate exact shipping costs. However, we are estimating between $4-$8 to ship a deck & rewards to addresses in the U.S.A. and $20-$25 for orders outside the United States.
We realize that it's hard to compete when we are living in the world of "free shipping" as we're all used to skipping this cost and having our purchase arrive the next day. We hope you understand that indie decks operate a different way. By backing us on Kickstarter, you're our VIP Super Stars! Without you covering these costs, we just wouldn't be able to make it on our own.
Customs, Duties and Taxes (CDT) are not included within the shipping price. CDT is the responsibility of the backer: that's you! The decks will be shipping from the United States. If you live outside of USA, please be aware that you may incur additional costs related to customs, duties and taxes.
TIMELINE
- December 19, 2020 to January 18, 2021: Kickstarter campaign is live!
- February-March: Collection of surveys, illustrating the remainder of the cards and finishing the guidebook
- April-May: Printing the deck and guidebook as well as manufacturing rewards
- June: Shipping to backers!
REMINDERS
- As you fill out your information, please make sure you're using a current credit or debit card. We don't want you to be accidentally dropped from our backer community!
- Double check your name and address. Misinformation and misspellings can result in your deck getting lost or delayed. Nobody wants that!

Star, Stone & Fable is a two-person team: Nicola Allan, a lawyer-turned-illustrator with a huge passion for children’s illustration and Juanita Benedicto, a librarian-turned astrologer, magic maker and tarot reader. We live in the beautiful little town of San Miguel de Allende. That's right in the middle of Mexico!
We used to meet one another at a giant soccer field in the morning to let our dogs run and play. As they played, we talked. We found out we had similar passions including astrology, tarot, symbolism and children. We decided to roll all our interests together by collaborating on a tarot deck for children.
Boys and girls have been using their mother's, grandmother's and older sibling's decks long enough. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they had a deck of their own? Here it is!
By creating a tarot deck we've completely fallen in love with, we are hoping that our offering to you will allow us to expand our creative collaborations while adding an uplifting and positive contribution to people's lives.
